People would be surprised to learn that I …
…used to speed skate. I mostly practiced Short Track in hockey rinks, but occasionally went to Lake Placid, New York to skate on their outdoor Olympic Oval. I even competed in US Short Track Nationals once. It’s kind of like NASCAR on Ice: Skate fast; Turn Left.
Where did you go to college?
I graduated from Siena College with a Computer Science Major. I realized after about a year and a half in to school that I was more interested in Information Technology, but rather than change schools, I decided to stick with it. I’m glad that I did because I learned a lot of skills I still use today and I gained Systems Management experience through internships and summer jobs.
What is your favorite food?
I don’t have a favorite food because I generally enjoy everything. I like trying new foods and rarely find something I wouldn’t eat again. Even if I don’t like something, I’ll give it at least a second shot. Who knows—maybe it was just poorly prepared the first time. I hope to travel more and try some unusual foods.
What attracted you to AKA?
I worked with the four partners at a previous company. They were a great group of people to work with and I liked the passion they have for the company.
What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
I appreciate the variety it brings. I like having the opportunity to work with various technologies and interacting with the entire company. I’ve worked in positions before where I was pigeonholed into a very narrow role, but that’s not the case here. I’m glad that I can wear many hats; it keeps things very interesting.
